How Did We Do?

Patrick Ireland, Pat, died suddenly last Friday, August 21, at the age of 40. Pat lived in West Seattle. He went to art school and worked in Seattle.
Patrick was a very talented artist, gamer, designer, and enjoyed time with family, friends, and helping people.
Patrick was to graduate with Video Game design in Spring 2016 from Seattle Art Institute.
Patrick grew up in Michigan and spent most of his life in Sterling Heights, Mt. Clemens, and Kalamazoo. Patrick relocated to Seattle to pursue his video game degree and to be with siblings Katie and Darlene and his nephew Kyle in the Pacific Northwest.
Patrick was a long term employee at Home Depot where he worked for 7 years starting in Kalamazoo. He was the recipient of many Homer awards and a favorite employee sought out by customers in both the Kalamazoo and Seattle stores as one of the most helpful and dependable resources.
Patrick is survived by his parents, Carl and Judy; grandmother, Leora Ireland; sisters, Katie and Darlene; nephew, Kyle; Aunts, Marilyn and Colleen; Uncles Jerry and Allen; cousins; Darien, Gregory, Chad.

CandleI was Pat's Department Manager when he was in the Lumber Department at Home Depot. Pat was both very bright and quite motivated. He devoted himself to a position of high stress at the Home Depot, as well as devoting himself to his art with a high degree of diligence, but most importantly he was devoted to his close friends, and the people around him. Pat had the ability to digest large volumes of information, as well as the ability to articulate information and ideas in both the verbal and written forms to everyone, even when he didn't speak the same language.
Pat was always effective in his efforts to engage any situation with a smile on his face that always remained until the job was complete, and was able to put smiles on others, along the way, while completing the most difficult of task. His personal outreach to others without thought of himself is something we don't see often enough in a lifetime. Pat was always willing to take risks. He would reach out to people and involve them in projects. I particularly appreciate Pat's willingness to take initiative to help every person he touched in his life. The brief time I have known Patrick has made me a much better person. He will be deeply missed (especially the "what's up big man"? text several times a week). I wish you a peaceful sleep my brother.

CandlePatrick was a truly amazing guy! I worked with him at the Home Depot and he always had a smile on his face. I loved his jokes and his humor! He always helped me whenever I was feeling down and he helped everyone else too! He was a very selfless guy. I will miss him greatly as many others will too.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I worked with Patrick at the Lander Home Depot in Seattle. He was a great friend and a wonderful all around person. I considered him my mentor and brother I never had until I met him. He will be greatly missed.
