How Did We Do?

Susan Zielinski, age 49, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017
from cancer at UW Medical Center in Seattle, WA. She was born on October 6, 1968
in Mount Holly, New Jersey to Tom and Luciana Zielinski. True to her nature, she
quietly married her long-time love Allan in December 2014. A woman of elegance,
Susan was a beautiful soul inside and out. She valued life and those she was close to,
often putting others first and leaving a lasting impression. She loved cracking jokes
and making people laugh. She enjoyed reading self-improvement books and
listening to podcasts, and when not curled up with a book, she was exercising or
competing in a game of squash with her husband. A consummate professional, Susan
cared deeply about her work. Her standards surpassed excellence while her
unwavering moral compass guided the way she supported those who were fortunate
to call her a colleague. She loved traveling to exotic places and had a weakness for
shoes and chocolate cake. Susan will always be remembered for her smile, giving
nature, poise, humility, style and wit. She is loved by many and will be greatly
missed.
Susan leaves behind her husband Allan Saunders; stepsons Clayton and Daniel
Saunders; her mother Luciana Zielinski; brothers Torn and Rob Zielinski; and
nephews Pedro and Nicholas Zielinski. She is preceded in death by her father, Tom
Zielinski.
Please join us in celebrating her life Tuesday December 5, 2017 at Holy Family
Catholic Church, 7045 120th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033. Her memorial service
will begin at 11:00 am with a light lunch gathering immediately following at the
church parish center.
Condolences may be sent to allan.saunders@gmail.com. Should you wish to honor
Susan with a donation, the family requests they be sent to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital, www.stjude.org !.

I just learned about Susan's passing. I'm shaken to the core. This young woman was such a shining star, so giving and caring, inside and outside work settings. I cannot imagine the world without her.

I remember once when she was my boss and we worked in a very overcrowded office, so that I was finally moved into a little closet off Susan's office. She called it my "cupboard," and I sometimes called it "Narnia." Since she could be a tough boss at times, I'd wondered if being so close to her physically would be awkward, but instead it was great. We could collaborate easily, but also share the latest gossip about "Project Runway" while getting things done. Her intelligence and sense of humor set her above the rest.

Sending love to Allan and her stepsons and her family.
