How Did We Do?

Richard James Impala
"Papa"
8/8/1942-11/12/2017

Our beloved Dad, Brother, Uncle, Papa and Friend has gone to be with the angels. Happily married for many years, he felt himself fortunate to be father to four beautiful children and six sweet grandchildren. As a young man he dutifully served in the Marine Corps and learned how to appreciate a minimalist lifestyle. He worked very hard in the restaurant business for many years. Always a dreamer but ultimately a realist, he learned life was simple. He escaped to the beach for a good long while, always able to find solace in the vastness of the deep blue sea. A natural born storyteller he wrote many stories and poems through his life. He cherished gifts of love and beauty (and scotch) over monetary tokens. His prized possessions were the rare close friendships he had and the love of his family. A hearty sense of humor carried him through any tough time. He always had the ability to get people to see the glass was half full and what was crummy today would usually be better tomorrow. We learned invaluable lessons from his life. He will forever be greatly loved. At his request, no traditional service is planned. He would like to be remembered in your own time, at a place meaningful to you. "We'll see ya when we see ya, Pop".

Just passed Rick Impala name and reminded me of old family friends . Not sure if same Rick from Tacoma Wa, but if so, i have fond remembrances of Mother Muriel and sister Mary Impala Lovell. If same family, know old memories still make me smile. Our Mothers were best friends. I am Marian Marcoe Swanson, eldest of Leonard and Marge Marcoe family of Tacoma Wa. ( Rick's picture looked familiar. If wrong family, then I wish your family peace in the loss of your Father and I will keep looking for my old friends. Marian Marcoe Swanson

Both Lewis and I had the joy of working with"Rick" at Gearhart by the Sea for a number of years. He was always a bright spot in the day for many of us with his quick wit and consuming humor. After he retired and moved to Tacoma so he could be closer to family and his beloved grandkids we lost a bright spot as Rick enjoyed giving everyone a word or two of his humours thoughts for the day. He has and will always be a part of our family. We miss you friend! Linda Wilmoth & Lewis McKune
