Was making banana bread from a well-used recipe from Judy, and wondered if the Barton’s still lived in Everett. So surprised and saddened to find out Warren had died last year. He was Sam’s best man at our wedding, and I know he was the ‘best man’ to many who loved him. Blessings to all.
Cousin Warren Barton was my role model in many ways. When I was a teenager in Seattle, Warren would come by the house with whatever pretty woman he was dating at the time, once ISTR (I seem to recall) in his Class AI Army uniform. Before I got drafted, Warren was my role model as a soldier, except Warren had the high rank of warrant officer, while I was only an EM (enlisted man). Warren was my role model in the study of foreign languages, since Warren graduated from the military language school in Monterey, California, where Warren became fluent in Korean. Then Warren had a career of mystery and intrigue for the intelligence service of the U.S. Army. I would ask Warren if he had been to such-and-such place, and Warren would respond, "I am not at liberty to say." I was shocked when his brother Wayne died young in 2006, and now the tears are welling up as I recoil from finding out that cousin Warren is gone. They don't make them any better than Wayne and Warren Barton.
