Malcolm R. Kittridge was born April 7, 1924 in Ripley, Maine. and passed away on April 26, 2011 in Duvall, Washington. "Mack" was 87 years old. The oldest son of Bertha and Roland Kittridge, Mack grew up in Dexter, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1948 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college he served two in the army and six years in the army reserves. In 1950, Mack took a job with John Deere Harvester in Moline Illinois; there he met Mary Lou Engebretson and they were married on his birthday in 1951. After John Deere, he worked for the Herman Nelson company, designing aeronautical fuel systems for high altitude flights. In 1958, Mack took a job with Interstate Electronics and Mack and Mary Lou and their two young sons, Matthew and Tom moved to Fullerton California. With Interstate, Mack helped to develop the missile guidance systems used on the Trident submarines. The family moved to Dana Point California in 1978 and when Mack retired from Interstate in 1988, he and Mary Lou moved to Santa Maria, California. He became active with the Elks and put his woodworking skills to good use helping to craft wooden toys for needy children. In 1994, to be closer to his sons, he and Mary Lou, moved to Port Townsend, Washington. Again, he became active with the Elks. Combining his woodworking skills with his engineering prowess, he volunteered many hours toward the construction of the new Elk Lodge in Port Townsend. This service earned him "Elk of the Year" in 1999. In 2005, Mack and Mary Lou moved to Duvall, where he spent his final days surrounded by his cats and his grandchildren. Mack is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, sons Matt (and Camille) Kittridge of Anaheim Hills, California and Tom (and Lynn) Kittridge of Duvall, Washington, and five grandchildren: Michael, George, Neil, Charlie & Johanna.
