How Did We Do?

Long-time Kirkland resident Frank T. Kerby, 82, died peacefully in his sleep July 8, 2011.

Mr. Kerby was born on February 11, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina to Elsie Lillian (née Hall) and Seth Thomas Kerby. His parents eventually moved to Bremerton, Washington. After graduating from Bremerton High School in 1947, Frank joined the Air Force. He spent most of his enlisted years stationed in Wyoming and Texas.

Frank was an English Major who earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Washington. Frank retired from The Boeing Company after 30+ years where he worked as a Technical Writer & Editor. He moved to Kirkland next door to his dearest best friend, Ellen Sullivan, where he spent the remaining years of his life. Frank enjoyed nature hikes, talking politics, and keeping up with the latest scientific developments. He was well read and his personal library contained works by Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Einstein, Rudyard Kipling, Noam Chomsky and Edgar Allen Poe. Frank felt an affinity with Buddhism and was active in progressive causes.

Frank is survived by his loving children; daughters, Lisa and Erin, his son Matthew, and 7 grandchildren: Matt, Chloe, Jack, Audrey, Adam, Shea and Bree. He will be dearly missed.

"Here Comes the Sun"
by the Beatles

Here comes the sun, doo doo doo doo
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Little darling
It's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little darling
I see the ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say,
It's alright
