How Did We Do?

Marty Christians was born on October 9, 1962 in Bellflower California to Norm and Marlene Christians. He is the second of five children. He lived in Artesia, California until the age of 16 then moved to Woodinville, Washington. He graduated from Inglemoor High School in 1981.

While attending Inglemoor, he met his wife, Linda, whom he married on October 4, 1985 here at Overlake Christian Church. The Lord blessed them with two sons, Kyle Martin, age 21 and Kory Michael, 17.

Marty had a long career as a truck driver for Oak Harbor Freight Lines, serving them faithfully from 1988 until his passing.

God created in Marty a love and talent for painting and drawing. In the 8th grade he won 1st place for his oil painting. In high school he drew the cartoon for the school paper. He enjoyed working in his yard, rain or shine, riding his bike, and doing anything that involved being outdoors. He adored his dogs and his silly bird, Jake. He loved serving at his church and was involved in the clown ministry as well as the bus ministry.

In 2008 Marty was diagnosed with Leukemia. He relied fully on the Lord's provision, often ministering to others through his hardship, and recovered with the Lord's healing through the help received from the medical community. Despite the reprieve from cancer, the leukemia was found to have returned three weeks ago. He passed away on October 29th at Evergreen Hospital with his wife and sister present. His courage, faith, strength, and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his sons, Kyle and Kory, parents, Norm and Marlene, siblings Steve, Tim, Phil and Lorraine, and in-laws Kore, Aase and John.

Marty had a huge and willing heart to help anyone in need, a warm and friendly smile, an excitement that lit the room when he walked in and a boldness to share Gods love. He loved the Lord with all his heart.

Marty was a loving husband and father, and a faithful follower of his Lord. Now free from pain and suffering, he safely rests in the loving arms of God. He will be missed.

Our most sincere condolences to your family. We remember Marty with great fondness. And when we read: "He enjoyed working in his yard, rain or shine,. . ." we are warmed by having experienced working in the rain with he and Linda when landscaping our yard. May your strength come from having spent the years with a wonderful, caring man. Ginger and Dick
