Seyed Mohammad Reza (Mark) Edalati was born on May 2, 1926 in Babol, Iran.

Dr. Edalati was named after his grandfather Aqa siyyid Mohammad Reza Shahmirzadi, survivor of Shaykh-Tabarasi, extolled by Baha'u'llah in Tablet of Justice (Lawhih-Rezvan-UlAdl). He was raised in Babol and attended school in Babol and later Sari. Later, he obtained his Bachelor degree in Education from Danesh Sarra Aali and started teaching in Shahi. Later, during the Falsafi anti-Bahai movement, he was fired with all the other Bahai' teachers from his position. He went to Tehran and started to work for Department of Education, and later attended Tehran University and obtained his PhD in Persian Literature. Later, he continued his work at Department of Higher Education and Science until his retirement in 1979, retiring as the Director of the Department of Higher Education and Science. He moved to United States of America in 1979. He published Peykeh-Shadi magazine for 22 years in State of Washington.

He married Rose Moshtagh in 1951, he is survived by his wife and four children and four grandchildren. He was active in Baha'i Faith, he was member of Local Spiritual Assembly of Shahi, and Baha'i Youth Committee, and very active teaching and promoting the Faith. Later, in Tehran, he was member of several different committees. He was very active in Faith throughout his life.

Everyone, who knew him, came to love his gentle soul and to appreciate his fund of knowledge. He was known for his smile and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
