How Did We Do?

Scott was born in Olathe Kansas August 25, 1959 to Barbara Ellen Pruitt and James Lee Favors. He passed away on Jan 3rd, 2012 in Redmond Washington in his sleep. He is survived by his Mother and Father, Step Mother Anna Marie Favors, Step Father Bill English. His two daughters Michelle Nicole Schronce and Melissa May Fairbairn. His grandchildren Devin, Kira, Soloman, and Sarah. His sisters Jamie and Lauri, step brothers Kenny, Dennis, Wayne, Daryl, Rick and Ron and step sister Rhonda as well as many other freinds and family.

THE BOOK OF JOB

Scott always said he did not believe in the hereafter. He said, "When you're dead you're done." I told him that I was a firm believer. I related a few stories about some things that have happened in my life that coalesced my faith.

He responded, "Nothing like that happens to me. I can't make myself believe what I don't believe."

So, I was taken by surprise on the day he died when I found the bible laying open beside his chair. I looked to see what he'd been reading, hoping it was some uplifting verse. It was the book of Job.

I felt disappointed and went into the living room where the chaplain was sitting. I told him what I'd found and expressed my dismay, "Why would he be reading this depressing book?"

The chaplain explained that, in spite of his many terrible trials and tribulations, Job's faith remained strong. Perhaps Scott was trying to learn how to believe by studying the responses of a man much like himself in suffering.

Later, when Bill arrived home, I filled him in on the details of Scott's passing, including the finding of the bible open to Job.

That night, feeling laden with grief, rather than my usual pastime, I was just sitting lost in my pain. I sent a mental message to Scott in the world beyond. "Scott, please send me a sign to let me know you have arrived safely on the other side and that everything is okay."

Bill was watching Jeopardy on TV. I wasn't paying any attention to it until I heard the contestant shout his answer to a question on the board. "The Book of Job!"

Suddenly, I snapped to attention. "That's it!" I exclaimed. "That is the sign!" My grief subsided like a charm. I was now at total peace and joy knowing he was safe on the other side of the veil. He is no longer suffering and I think he can finally believe.

I was very blessed to have had uncle Scott fly all the way out here just to be a guest at my wedding and reception. My fondest memory was the fact that we both shared a love for 2pac and that I got him to dance with me to California Love at my reception. He told me later that was the first time he'd danced with a girl for 12 years. I felt very honored. I will always have that good memory in my heart. My husband and I send our love, and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was sad to find out about Scott passing away. Although its been about 20 years since I last saw or talked to Scott,I remember him as a kind and wonderful person. I'll keep Scott and family in my prayers.

Scott visited my circle garden with Barbara one day. He was interested in gardening. Most recently he called me as I had his mom out too late one night. We had gone to Leavenworth for a quick road trip. Scott lives on in our hearts. I will plant a perennial in his honor in my garden in the Sammamish Valley. You are loved, Scott.
