Dear Hanna, as siblings we go back a long way, with memories too numerous to mention all. What stands out is the help I received from you to get me through engineering college in Germany. Then get my young wife and I settled in Canada. For many years we have lived at the opposite end of this continent but never lost touch. I am so glad we had arranged a family get-together in October of last year at Christa's in Phoenix. This turned out to be the final opportunity to see each other.

With Love and Respect, your Brother Hartmut

To my dear energetic and feisty Tante Hannelore - even though we lived far apart and didn't see each other often, you'll always hold a special place in my heart. I love you and miss you.

I will remember Hannah's warm smile, her lively spirit, the way she walked with an obvious sense of purpose, and her genuine horror that here in the US there were encampments of people who lived in tents for want of a proper home. She was a lady known for being both straightforward and kind. Language barriers never kept her from letting people know that she cared about them. I will miss seeing her at the Thursday lunches!

Dear Hannelore,
Thank you for welcoming me into your family and helping me in so many ways when I first came to Canada. I have fond memories of our times together. I know your spirit lives on, and I imagine you like in the following poem:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
if quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.

Thank you for being such a wonderful mom. You never placed yourself first, and made an effort to assist others. You were and are truly a living angel.

I have wonderful memories of Hannelore which I will always cherish. She was gracious and elegant in her reltionships with others with a mix of strong opinion and kind hearted compassion.
