Shirley Jane Chapman passed away on April 26, 2012 in Kirkland, Washington. Born on June 19, 1924 in Portland, Oregon, she was the adored only child of Bernice Myrl U'ren and William Dewey Rigg. She grew up in Longview, Washington then graduated from the University of Washington in 1946 as a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Shirley also earned a degree in Pharmacy in 1975 and worked as a hospital pharmacist.

She married Rowe Chapman, Jr. in 1947 raising their four sons in Virginia, and King of Prussia, PA. In 1979 they moved to Port Orchard, WA. After Rowe retired in 1987, they moved into the Rigg family home in Olympia, WA.

Music was a favorite pastime. Playing the piano was her first love, often as duets with Rowe. She enjoyed being in the bell choir at church, taught herself to play the guitar, and in her 70's decided to take up the violin!

Shirley enjoyed traveling, in the U.S. and many places overseas. She was ever active, adventurous, curious, sometimes quirky and always loving.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rowe in 1993 and her youngest son Peter Lewis Chapman in 2009. She is survived by her loving sons George Rowe Chapman, Michael Edward Chapman, and Richard Merrill Chapman; daughters in law Debbie Boody Chapman, Heather Allen Chapman, Linda Sidaris Chapman, and Martha Royer Chapman; along with grandchildren Peter and wife Megan Carroll Chapman, Becky, Laura and husband David Schairer, Stephen and Alex, Chris, Katie and Andy, Matthew and Henry, and great-grandchild Frederick.

She will be dearly missed.
