How Did We Do?

Scott Katz, age 47, of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully at home with his wife, children, sister and neice by his side.

Scott was born March 23, 1965, to Joseph and Roberta (Goldin) Katz in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in and attended school in Hollywood, Fl. until 1978 when his family moved to Everett, Wa. He was raised and educated in Everett, where he attended Evergreen Middle School and later graduated from Cascade High School in 1983. Scott was on the football team at Cascade and made the AllState team. He also wrestled for Cascade and was their first two-time State Wrestling Champion. After high school, he received a football scholorship to the University of Idaho in Moscow, Id. On July 4th, 1988, he met his future bride, thanks to their mother's who had set them up on a blind date. A year later he married Kathleen (Camp) Katz on July 22, 1989. Scott held several jobs before he found work at Boeing and then later found his calling in the mortgage business where he enjoyed helping others realize their dream of homeownership. Due to health problems, Scott had to retire from the mortgage business in 2008, but later found a new hobby in currency trading.

Scott loved attending his son's sporting events and his daughter's choir performances at Glacier Peak and Cascade High School. He truly enjoyed cooking, traveling and doing home improvement projects. He was generous of heart, constant in faith and possessed the beautiful spirit, 1 Samuel 25:3.

Into every family falls some sorrow when a dearly loved husband, father, brother and uncle leaves this world. They may be gone but they are never forgotten--they are loved forever. Scott will forever be in the hearts of his wife, Kathy and children, Bryan and Nichole of Everett, WA; his sister, Randi Edwards of Everett, WA; His neice, Mandi Calderon of Everett,WA; his nephew, Jesse Calderon of Everett, Wa; and his great neice's and nephew, Paris, Brooklynn, Savannah, Kade and Corrine of Everett, Wa. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and brother Brian.

The Family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the doctors and staff at The Everett Clinic, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and the Puget Sound Kidney Center for their hard work, dedication and many years of love and support. We would also like to thank Derek Hudson and the entire Hudson family, Jan Catey, Kirk Edwards and Cascade Memorial for their time and generosity.

I was sorry to hear of Scott's passing and to hear of it so late (almost a year late). I knew him in college at the U of I where we were resident adviser partners. We developed a friendship that I regret not following up on after college even though I was invited to Scott's wedding. Scott, I am proud to have known you and will always think fondly about your sense of humor. Condolences to your family.

Your Gentle Giant will live forever through each of you! The definition of Champion - One that is clearly superior or has the attributes of a winner. He was a Champion!

I'm so sad to hear this news. Scott was a truly great man! While we grew apart over the years I have such great memories of working with Scott. We had great Buzz Inn breakfast meetings and laughed all the time!

Scotty, I was so pleased to have had the privilege of laying ball with you at Idaho. You had an infectious attitude and demonstated a love of life. I was glad to have had the chance to have lunch with you and Kathy and to see your love for Christ shine in spite of difficult circumstances. Enjoy new adventures at home.

Scotty, you will never be forgotten. So blessed that we briefly reconnected last year. I will never forget your infectious smile and big bear hugs. I know you will always be watching over your family.
