Shawn James Hottell was born on March 10, 1975 in Omak, Washington. On June 23, 2012, after a 2 week battle with ARDS, Shawn left his earthly body and went to his eternal field of dreams with the Lord to join his heavenly family who had passed away before him.

Shawn grew up in Kent, WA through 9th grade and graduated from Omak High School in 1994. He enjoyed playing football and baseball as an Omak Pioneer. In 1995, Shawn went to the baseball training camps in Peoria, AZ. He tried out for the Oakland Athletics and did really well. He was so proud of himself. Shawn eventually moved to Federal Way.

Shawn worked as a security guard, delivery person, and tire salesman for Sears and Goodyear. He enjoyed bantering with his friends and cousins about the status of many teams, especially Seattle Mariners and Seahawks. He also found great enjoyment while swapping "secret recipes" for cooking and finding new dishes to cook for family get togethers. Shawn had a deep, abiding love for all of his family and he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his father Shannon (Rosalinda) Hottell, mother Colleen (Dave) Brooks; sisters Christie (Jeremy) Stover and Vanessa Aparicio; brother Andres Aparicio; nieces Makayla, Camilla, Emali and Taylor; nephews Caleb and Gabriel; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shawn will be missed by many of his close and personal friends.

He was preceded in death by Grandfathers Thomas Hottell and Kenneth Hallenius, Grandmother Alice Hallenius, his loving aunts: Nancy (Hallenius) Sanders, Elma D (Hallenius) Wyckoff, and Miriam (Hallenius) Michael, plus his Uncle Peter Hallenius, and his adult cousins, Mike Marshall, Jason Hottell and Dean Michael.

Thank you everyone for the outpouring of love and affection toward Shawn during his hospital stay and the support that was given to our family during this difficult time. We have been blessed with exceptionally strong, loving and compassionate family and friends.

Shawn left us too soon. He is proof that the good die young.
