Claudette "Dode" Hutchison

Claudette "Dode" Hutchison, 64, lost her battle to melanoma cancer on November 24, 2012 with her family by her side. She was born July 11, 1948, in Seattle, the daughter of James and Frances Marino.

Dode graduated from Blanchet High School in Seattle, Washington with the class of 1966. On April 6, 1968 she was united in marriage to Roderick Hutchison in Seattle. Together they had five daughters and seven grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Rod Hutchison of Seattle; three children, Darcy (Matt) Ruble of Portland, Faye (Murphy) Morgan of Temecula, and Breanna (Scott) Bloom of Kenai; seven grandchildren, Ellie Ruble, Roddy Ruble, Bay Bloom, Piper Bloom, Murphy Morgan, Wyatt Morgan and Avi Bloom; a brother, Monte (Jackie) Marino of Seattle; and two sisters, Carmen (Bob) Kimball of Snohomish, and Charlene (Doug) Clark of Seattle.

She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Cassie and Elizabeth Hutchison.

Funeral services will be held at Assumption Catholic Church located at 6201 33rd Ave NE, Seattle. Time will be announced tomorrow.

Dode was a passionate woman who dedicated her life to promoting health as Fitness Director and Instructor at Columbia Athletic Club for over 30 years. One of the highlights of her life was representing her husband's Seattle Firefighter's team as she climbed the Columbia Center and won a trip to New York to run the Empire State Building Challenge. She was a source of strength and motivation for the entire community as she taught countless children how to swim, was a personal trainer, yoga and pilates instructor, ran numerous marathons, triathlons and road races, and even raised 1000's of dollars for charity through these events. After a full day of going for her hour run, teaching classes, being a good friend to many, enjoying happy hour, she could be found down at her cabin, enjoying her lake and a sunset. She was passionate about spending time with family and friends, hiking, skiing, cycling, and spending time at the ocean. The impact Dode had on her family and friends was tremendous and her spirit will continue to shine in each of them.
