Ed's most important priority in his life was his family, wife Tracey and children Joshua and Jennifer, teaching his children the value of "Family always comes first". He was the youngest of eight and a native of Southern California.
The Blackburn Family resided in Naperville, Illinois for 10 years and then relocated to the Seattle area in 2008 where Ed truly found his happiness in boating, hiking, hunting and fishing. The most fun however was probably boating through the San Juan Islands and crab catching.
He was passionate about cooking and enjoying great food, good beer, and fine wine with family and friends. And on the most special gatherings, he would break out his favorite scotch, Macallan 18 year.
He proudly served in the Air Force for six years and was stationed in Montana, Turkey, and California. He continued to support the military through his work and participation in FMF, an on-line community for former and active military, and current public service posts including police and fire fighters. Post Air Force, he had great career experiences that ranged the gamut including becoming an expert in technology and wireless communications and construction at one point owning his own businesses in both fields (WincTech and HomeConstructor). Additionally, he was a board member of the Seattle Puget Sound Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI), a leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation worldwide.
He fought the toughest battle with Synovial Sarcoma for 18 months beating many statistics the doctors gave him and on February 3rd, 2013, the world lost an incredible human being and a great man. He will be missed greatly.

Tracy & Family: My heart aches thinking of your loss. Ed was a cool guy and I so enjoyed talking with him about boating. He lit up like a Christmas tree when he talked about your trips to the San Juan's. Also, Ed was a hard worker and a great carpenter. Ed built our beautiful deck and I will think of him as were watching the sun set...Rest In Peace, Ed!
May Ed rest in peace and be forever connected spiritually with those he loves.
