We celebrate the life of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator and friend. Robert Earl Jones was born on October 14, 1937 in Longview, Washington, to John Allen Jones and Lavina (Schlittler) Jones.
Bob's love of music began with piano lessons in the third grade. As a student at the University of Puget Sound, Bob continued his lifelong musical pursuits as a member of the Adelphian Concert Choir. He completed his degree in education at the University of Washington in 1966.
He would go on to serve 27 years as a music teacher in the Shoreline School District, teaching at Kellogg Junior High for 11 years, and the remaining years at most of the elementary schools in the district. He taught his own 4 children at Hillwood Elementary.
Before and after his retirement in 1993, Bob would serve as choir director for several churches. In 2000, he began serving as director/pianist for the Sound Singers of Edmonds. This was a big part of his life and came to feel like another family. He was also currently serving as board president of the Edmonds Senior Center, and was a former president of the Sno-King School Retirees. He was a part of Bible Study Fellowship as well, and especially loved hearing the 300+ men's voices praising God while he accompanied them on the piano.
Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Marie Haugland, on a blind date in September of 1959. They would marry on July 21, 1962. They would raise 4 children - Jeff (Ann), Matthew, Robin Henderson, and Karen Miley (Chris). Later they would care for twin foster sons, Jason and Jeremy Scheuerman.
They thoroughly enjoyed their 7 grandchildren - Lauren, Sydney, Spencer and Cory Jones, and Max, Sonja and Finn Henderson. The families would have an annual Cousin Week together. This past summer Bob and Pat celebrated 50 years of marriage with a dinner date at the Space Needle and later a trip to the Oregon Coast that included all of their children and grandchildren.
Bob passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 13, 2013.
Memorial Service
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 23rd at New Life Foursquare Church in Everett.

Pat, You and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers. Bob was a wonderful man and a super Chief Proctor for the NCEES Engineering and Surveying exams. He will be missed!!
I worked at Ronald United Methodist Church as a Day Care Director and would often see Bob there (at the church) in his capacity as choir director.
As I recall, he was a dedicated choir director and well thought of. Sincere Condolences
Bob was a wonderful asset to me for all the many many years that he assisted me and the Edmonds School District with our Retirement Seminars. He provided much needed assistance to me in several capacities. He was a joy to be around and I know that I will deeply miss him.
