How Did We Do?

Glenn R. Parks of Redmond, WA, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 14, 2013.

He was born in Snoqualmie, WA on November 25, 1950 to the late John L. and Donna Mae Parks. He was the oldest of four children.

Raised in Skyway, Glenn attended Renton High School and graduated in the class of 1969. Upon his graduation, he became a full-time minister of Jehovah's Witnesses for several years. For the past 25 years he has served as an elder in the local congregation, where he sincerely cared for his fellow Christian brothers and sisters with all of his heart. Even though he was a man of few words, he leaves an indelible mark on each and every life he touched.

Glenn, and his wife, Wendy, were married in 1983, and were blessed with the arrival of their son, Trevor, in 1984, and their daughter, Tristin, in 1987. He was extremely proud of his two children, and as the years progressed his unbreakable bond with them increased. Glenn was amazingly strong, having survived multiple myeloma cancer, a previous heart attack, as well as many other serious health problems. He was the epitome of a perfect husband when he lovingly cared for his wife through her battle with breast cancer.

To support his family, Glenn found great fulfillment in establishing his own contracting business which thrived for almost 40 years, granting him the ability to enjoy life to the fullest. He passionately enjoyed food, loved music, danced with his heart, and lived sports--a lifetime Seattle Seahawks fan! He loved traveling the world with friends and family, and lived for the rush of catching the perfect wave in Maui, the home of his heart. One of his close friends teasingly referred to him as Glenn "Vacation" Parks. Most recently he travelled to South Africa, where he and his family were delegates at a Zulu Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. While there, they enjoyed a three-day Bible educational program, and then worked with a local congregation in the ministry and experienced the culture together.

Glenn loved being with people and was unintentionally hilarious to all who knew him. Our hearts are heavy with the great loss of his presence as he has left an unforgettable mark on the community, his business associates, friends, and family.

Aside from his wife, Wendy, he is also survived by his children, Trevor and Tristin Parks of Redmond, his sisters, Sandra (Daroll) Mitchell of Kalispell, Montana, and Sharon Parks, of Bellevue; as well as numerous other relatives.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to their dear friends who have offered much support over the past week as their efforts have been a heartwarming blessing. The family is grateful for the care Glenn received from his exceptional doctors over the past 14 years. Yet above all, we especially thank Jehovah our God for the gift of Glenn's life and for the good times spent with him. With great anticipation we now look forward to seeing his smiling face again in the promised resurrection (John 5:28-29) where there will be no more sorrow, death or pain! (Rev 21:3-4).
