How Did We Do?

Wanda J. Ficker peacefully slipped into heaven on May 3, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born on February 3, 1948 in Hardin, Montana. She lived in the Montana area until her family moved to Pasco, Washington in 1955. She attended grade school and Jr. High School at Bethlehem Lutheran School, and then graduated from Pasco High School in 1966.

Wanda graduated from the University of Washington in 1971 with her degree in education. She went on to teach elementary education and continued in later years substituting wherever possible. Working with children was a joy in her life.

Wanda married Carl A. Ficker in December, 1973 and they had forty wonderful years together. One of their first dates was trout fishing at Pine Lake. Wanda carried on that love for the outdoors and loved camping and fishing. They made their home in Issaquah, Washington on Cougar Mountain. Later in life they moved to Kennewick, Washington but with her husband's illness returned to Everett, Washington to be near their sons.

Wanda and Carl raised their three sons: Scott, Ryan and Randy with their love of the outdoors. They purchased a camping trailer with bunk beds and camping trips were a precious family activity. Wanda had a great love for all types of music and played the piano, guitar, and recently was actively learning to play the fiddle. She enjoyed singing throughout high school and church in choirs and special ensembles. One of her favorite things was singing with her two sisters, accompanied by their brother on guitar. With their mother at the piano when they were young they performed at various small events around the community. She loved attending the family reunions in the wilds of Montana where hiking and singing were a daily event.

Antioch Bible Church was a big part of Wanda's life and she had a special talent for bringing the spirit of God into her home. She enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School as a teenager and in recent years enjoyed the bible study classes she participated in.

Wanda will be remembered as the "queen" of scrapbooking and was self employed as a Scrapbooking Consultant and Unit Leader with Creative Memories from the beginning of their business. She was a top award recipient for many achievements. This is evident by the 50 beautiful scrapbooks she has completed of her family, friends and her entire life history. She leaves behind a lifetime legacy of filled memories in the albums of each of her boy's lives.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Scott, Ryan, Randy and Ryan's wife, Kristin. Before she passed, she was able to hold her newborn granddaughter Natalie. She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Muhlbeier living in Pasco, WA, 2 sisters, Wilma Gardner living in Kennewick, WA and Margie Dayley living in Lake Forest, CA and her brother, Ken Muhlbeier living in Eloy, AZ. Her husband Carl proceded her in death in February.
