Wayne R. Schaefer, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Renton, WA with his family by his side on Saturday, May 10, 2014 after a long fight with Gastric Cancer.

Born on June 1, 1948 in Minot, ND to the late Edward and Bernice Schaefer, Wayne was the fourth of five siblings, Edward, Ronald, Shirley, and Patricia. He was married to Sherry Gail Chilson on February 7, 1970.

After graduating from Powell High School Wayne joined the Navy and served from 1966-1969. Upon his return home he met Sherry, they married, had son Barton John and daughter Tina Marie. They moved to Laramie, Wyoming where he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Wayne proceeded to work all over the Western United States. He lived in California, Texas, Montana, Utah and Wyoming before settling in Renton Washington in 1994.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and golf. After retiring in 2011, he was able to spend more time with his family and friends. He had recently begun to do woodworking projects with his son and grandson.

Wayne was an amazing father and husband. A great friend, brother, and neighbor. He is survived by his wife Sherry, his brother Ronald; his sister Shirley; his sister Patricia; his son Bart; his daughter Tina (m. Nick); and his two grandchildren, Jacob and Kelsey. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Schaefer (2005).
