John Nelson was born on October 25, 1949 in Seattle, Washington. He passed away on January 7, 2015 in Seattle, Washington.

John's lifelong passion was collecting foreign paper money, beginning his collection in his early teens. In the early 1970s John traveled to Eastern Europe to meet with other collectors. He became an expert in international paper currencies and possessed an in-depth knowledge of international economic and political history.

John was a very special son, uncle, brother, and friend. He was devoted, generous, and kind to those he shared his life with. Our lives have been forever blessed by Johns smile and presence.

John's memory is dearly cherished by all who have had the privilege to share his life.
He is deeply loved and missed by his father, Donald Nelson, his sisters: Carolyn Nelson and Jane Aharon, his nieces: Sarah Aharon, Rachel Aharon and Sandra Lewitz, and devoted friends: Nadav Karisie and John Gilham.
