Jo Ann Bellows Obituary | Obituary - Seattle WA Cremations and Funerals

Jo Ann (Nommensen) Bellows passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at home, surrounded by her family. Born on January 1, 1937, in Olympia, WA, to Lewis and Mary Nommensen, Jo spent most of her life in the Seattle area. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1954 and remained a proud Grizzly, serving on the reunion committee and attending every reunion. She attended both WSU and UW. Jo loved to golf, play bridge, work in her beautiful garden and spend time with her loving family. She is survived by her former husband, Howard L. Bellows, with whom she remained close friends, her daughters, Holly Gray (Joel), Kay Quall and Sarah Bowman (Joe), her grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Grant, Annabelle and Ryan, and her countless friends. She will be greatly missed all the days of our lives. A celebration of her life is being planned for April 2015. Donations can be made in her honor to the Butterfly Guild @ www.butterflyguild.org.

My condolences to her family. Jo was a wonderful woman with an upbeat attitude and she made me wish I were more like her. Her laugh always made me feel warm, welcome, and happy. Working with her made the job fun. Sometimes the job can be so horrible that you wish you could just quit but you don't because of one special person that made everything okay because of who they were, well, Jo was one of those people. The world is a sadder place with her loss and she will be greatly missed.

Jo was like a surrogate mother to me when we workted together at Boeing and always looked out for me and the other secretaries. She was always a gracious hostess and opened her home to the other secretaries for gatherings. During the beanie baby craze, we would help each other find beanie babies and there is a certain beanie that will always reminds me of her and how she uplifted other's spirits. She is in my heart and I will miss her.
