How Did We Do?

Margaret Jean Turner (Jeanie) died 2-22-15, Sunday at home, after a 20 year battle with breast cancer. She was born to Philip Miner Hoadley and Lois Eva Blake Hoadley on 11-8-48 in Escondido, Ca. Jeanie grew up there with her beloved siblings: Joanna, Phil jr, Debbie, and Katie. Jeanie loved all living things. Jeanie relandscaped her yard to accommodate more of her beautiful flowers and plants. Jeanie had a dog, three cats, a bird and 6 gold fish. Jeanie was a hard working woman. She got her bachelor of computer science at Seattle U in her 40's and worked in the field all her working life.

Jeanie's working years included 7 years with her Wacap adoption agency, 7 more years with Westek software company and 2 more in her audio-visual tech at Highlands middle school. Cancer forced her retirement in 2008. She enjoyed BCMetz web exchange of cancer knowledge, listening to her Prairie Home Companion, and road trips and cruises with her husband, Steve Turner and Kara and Jacob Edwards-King.

She is survived by daughters Annmarie, Jennie, Tai, Kara, Marion, Tracy and Kelly and her son Jamal; grand children: Hailey and Aurora, Cole and Leah.

Special thanks go to Kara Soo Edwards-King, who made sure she had everything that she needed so she could live at home until her passing.

CandleJeanie was always happy and upbeat to be around. One of my favorite memories was of when we were over for a Turner family dinner. Jeanie went to open the oven and put dinner in. When she opened the oven door she saw that some one had left a cookie sheet and pancake turner in the oven. She exclaimed, "some one left a turner in the oven!" We laughed about it all night.

I was blessed to have known Jeanie and have her friendship, laughter and wisdom in my life. We shared a common and uncommon bond together with our children and drew much understanding from each other.

I did a lot of gardening in her yard and even though she was low on energy and sleeping much of the time, she would surprise me by setting up a lovely table in her back garden with her fine china teacups, teapot and some wonderful goody she had tucked away. We'd spend time sharing our lives and laughing over many cups of tea. I'll never forget those special times we spent together among many others over all the years I knew her. For me, she left this world a far better place to live in.

I love you, Jeanie and I know you're spirit is flying peacefully and free. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

CandleJeanie cheered me on in every endeavor. I can't pick up a colored pencil or paint brush without hearing her praise my work and encouraging me to do even more. We shared life stories and discussions over cups of tea, and a love of dogs. She called my dog her "step-dog". I'll always remember her smile and how happy she always was to see me and my family.

CandleThe best time I ever had in my life doing art with others was making collages with Jeanie, Steve, and others at my hi-rise condo with a view in 2002. When we finished our collages we used them to create a story of where we had been and where were going with our lives. Then we had delicious home-made German chocolate cake. It was one of the most pleasant events I ever hosted in my life. It would not have happened without Jeanie's love and support to reach out to others making a richer and better life for all of us that were touched by her spirit.

CandleJeanie was a wonderful woman. Always kind and caring. I will miss her positive and uplifting conversations. She was always so happy to see me and share her life stories. I love and miss her already. I'm happy to know that she lived a wonderful and happy life.
