Charlotte was my dearest friend. We met when we both worked at U.S. Bank. We spent about everything we made on theater tickets, and, in Charlotte's case, clothes. She was one of a kind. No matter what the situation might be, Charlotte could find a way to make us laugh. One night, on the way home from some event, I idly said, "We should go on a cruise". A day or so later, she had us in a travel agent's office, booking our Caribbean Cruise, on the Love Boat, of course! The last time I saw Charlotte, she was in a care facility. When I came through the door, I saw her, with a group of other residents. When she saw me, I could see her struggling to figure out if I was the person who was coming to visit her. This had happened, several other times, but this time she never did quite make the connection. She seemed embarrassed, and I decided then, not to put either of us through that again. I hope her family sees this; I have no way of contacting them.
