Raymond O Sampson Jr. was born on October 03, 1953 in Libby, Montana to Raymond and Joyce Sampson. Ray was the brother of Gloria, Robert, and Linda. Shortly after being born, Ray and his family moved to Everett, Washington, where Ray met his soul mate and future wife at the young age of 5. Ray grew up in Everett, worked at his father's restaurant, played football, hung out with his cousins and siblings, as well as attended the rivaling high school of his future wife. After graduation, he married Carla Sampson, and they moved to the small town of Goldendale, where they raised a family. Ray worked for many years at the Aluminum plant as a lineman, until they sent him to school to become an electrician. Ray quickly started his own electrical business in Goldendale, and ran that until Boeing offered him an electrical job three years ago. This brought Carla and Ray back to the place they first met, Everett, Washington. 1 year after moving back, Ray was diagnosed with brain cancer. Through the pain and suffering, Ray never stopped smiling. He loved to make others smile and laugh. Ray was a very loving, kind, and generous man. Sometimes to a fault. There were times where Ray would give even when he had nothing. After fighting a tough battle, Raymond lost the fight on August 3rd, 2015. He leaves behind his beautiful wife Carla, his daughter, Jessica, her husband, Anthony, his son Aaron, Aaron's wife Shannon, his daughter Aarica, and her fiancé, Joel. Along with his wife and children he leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He will forever be loved and very missed.
I always loved and cherished this photo of Ray and Carla. It was taken at one of the Goldendale Assembly get togethers and of course Steve had to be a wise guy and stick his hand out to distract them just as the photo was taken. We so enjoyed our times of friendship while in Goldendale and so glad we were able to reconnect when they moved to Everett. I will never forget Ray's smile and warm greeting each time we went to see him. He was always grateful for his family and his Savior. We will miss him. Carla we love you and wish you God's very best!
