Elva Kohler Kinkade
Joined our Heavenly Father on October 25th, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on January 10th, 1940 in Hailey, Idaho to Walter John Kohler & Mary Cathern Bishop Kohler.
Elva graduated from Bellevue High School in 1958. She graduated from Link's Business College of Boise and worked as a secretary.
She was working at Biltmore mobile homes in Boise when she met Raymond Kinkade and later married him. After a few years, they returned to the Wood River Valley to make a home.
Elva was active with the Bellevue Community Church for many years & taught Sunday School as well as AWANA's. She also participated with the Blaine County 4-H where her groups took home many ribbons year after year.
Elva retired from the Blaine County School District in 2005. She enjoyed spending time at the senior center and making crafts for her grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
In 2010 she moved to Washington State to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Mariner's games, picnicking up on Mt. Rainier, helping her grandson raise chickens and ducks, going to casino's & of course spending time with family.
Elva is survived by
her sister - Johanna "Jody" Broadway (Hailey, Idaho),
her daughter - Mary Calhoun (Enumclaw, Washington),
her grandchildren -
Myranda (David)Le,
Mariah Calhoun (Santa Monica, California),
Jeremiah Calhoun (Enumclaw, Washington),
one great granddaughter - Peyton Le,
and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She will be sorely missed by all.
Memorial to be held Summer 2016 in Bellevue, Idaho. (Date to be determined)
You could always count on Elva's smile. There's not a lot of people who are always cheery like that. Upbeat, see's the good in everyone. She may have made me crazy on occasion, but she was a happy girl! That's something we can all learn from...Nan Riley
Knew Elva all my life as I attended Bellevue schools also. Elva was a close friend of my sister Shirley and spoke at Shirley's funeral in 1992. Always grateful for her participation.
Elva was a good basketball player in high school and upon graduation, she and Shirley both attended Twin Falls Business College where they both graduated in 1959.
My wife has a small, red stool that she purchased at Elva's garage sale about 10 years ago at her Mother's residence. We cherish it as we did Elva. Our condolences to her family.
God speed, Evie; you have lots of folks waiting for you. Wish I could give you a big hug to share with them all. --Kathie
