Judy Ann McBroom (Lovett) passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2016. She was surrounded by her beloved husband, Cliff, and other close family members.
Judy and Cliff have been married for over 37 years and have three children: David, Jeff and Greg plus daughters-in-law, Angelica and Molly; niece, Deb Irving along with her husband, Rob, and their three children, Tyler, Bryce and Dylan and nephew, Scott Bishop; and six grandchildren: Rosie, Michael, Madeleine, Blake, Abbigail and Brock, and one great grandchild Alexa. They will all miss Grandma's special shopping trips, lunches, finger nail polish (and pink things) and her amazingly tasty spaghetti dinners with fried cauliflower and meatballs.
Her father and mother, Arthur and Julia Lovett, were long parishioners of Our Lady of the Lake Parish and active in the Seattle community. Judy had a close bond with her parents, especially her father, Art, who was an avid bowler. Judy was also artistically talented like her father with great artistic skills in addition to singing and playing the piano.
Born June 30, 1943, Judy grew up in the Seattle area and attended Our Lady of the Lake, Blanchett High School as a proud member of the class of '61. She then attended Seattle University and later Wenatchee Valley College earning both a Respiratory Therapy, and Registered Nursing degree. She was so excited to become an RN and so enjoyed patient care. Later in her career, she worked with several medical manufacturers and Dr. Hickman to help develop the multi lumen catheters.
Judy has always been passionate about caring for others, whether it was her family, friends or her patients. She had a unique ability to understand each person's life story, connecting with them at their most vulnerable times and providing the necessary compassion and expert medical care.
Judy was always caring about other people. One of her greatest fulfillments was working for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. There she would care for numerous patients inflicted with serious life threatening illnesses with a compassion and joy that was palpable. Judy loved her patients and cared for every one of them as though they were her own family.
Judy and Cliff were married on September 23, 1978, in Wenatchee, Washington. They and their three children lived in Wenatchee until 1978, and later moved to Camano Island and then to Stanwood, while Cliff earned his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Washington. At that time, Judy was working as an intravenous therapy nurse at Skagit Valley Hospital.
Judy's greatest love and strength was her husband, Cliff, along with her devotion to the Catholic faith, the love of God and dedication to her family. Cliff and Judy enjoyed a wonderful life together of over 40 amazing years. They both loved traveling, taking frequent trips to several warm exotic places, like Italy and Curacao, even though her favorite destination was Disneyland. Judy loved the beach, tanning and taking walks, and realized her dream when she and Cliff purchased a summer family home on Camano Island. Having a beach house to share time with family and friends was a dream come true.
Judy and Cliff did everything together, providing a great example of how couples should live their marriage. They have always been best friends and over the years that never wavered, and everyone knew it and everybody could see it.
Judy is also survived by her 2 loving golden retrievers and her cat Alley who will miss her loving affection. She has left this world for a better place, leaving a little piece of her spirit in all of us. Although she will be incredibly missed, her memory will live on and she will see us in Heaven one day.
A funeral rosary and mass will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016, 10 am at St. Louise Catholic Church located 141 - 156th Ave. SE, Bellevue, WA 98007 with a reception to follow in the hall. All donations can be made to the Catholic Church in memory of Judy.
