How Did We Do?

Sunrise May 20, 1950 Sunset October 7, 2016

Ed or Edward was the 10th of 11 children born to Matthew Franklin Bash in Seattle Washington. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lee and six children: Celeste, James Jr., Shane, Armica, and twin son and daughter, as well as 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Franklin Bash; mother, Mary Ruth Jones, son Gilton, and nine brothers and sisters--Eugene, Alice, Audrey, Corrine, Norma, Richard, Charles, Robert, and Mark.

Ed grew up in the heart of Seattle's Central District where he attended Madrona Elementary, Meany Jr. High and graduated from Garrett Hayes High School in Shelton, Washington. He went on to become a welder, and had an artistic side. He created beautiful wooden clocks from scraped logs and color pencil drawings of flowers. He loved to play, coach, and watch Basketball and could be found frequently on the basketball courts of Holly Park and Queen Anne. He loved to reflect on when he was a member of the Pinoi Basketball Team in the Queen Anne League. He excelled as the go-to-guy in his positions as a Forward and Center. He was very proud of his skills ... "back in the day."

Edward had a great sense of humor. Even while facing his last days, he still had jokes. He faced death without sadness or fear. More with a sense of acceptance, peace and knowing he was going to join his brothers (and best friends) Mark, Rob, and Charles, in a better place. He professed to not being very religious, but had accepted Jesus Christ in his heart. At the end, when asked what a good day was like he responded, reading the newspaper at the Library, a good scary book or movie (Stephen King was top of his list), and walking--he walked quite a bit on Capitol Hill.

Ed was loved and comforted by his children and close family and friends who called and visited and kept him laughing during the last 3 weeks of his life. He left this world on October 7, 5:15 am at the Bailey Boushay House near his birth home in Seattle. He will be memorialized at Abbey View Memorial Park, in Brier Washington on November 5, 2016 at 11:30 am.
