Kolbjorn lived life all-out, 110% at 110 miles per hour. He was born September 26, 2005. We actually took him to see his doctor as a baby because he moved like he was running, even in his sleep. He could crawl out of a crib before he could walk and get through any lock we put on the door to get outside. Kol had a huge curiosity for life, a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a grin that inspired others to join him in all of his adventures. Whether it was fishing in the ditch at five, really convinced the big one was just about to come out of the culvert, or trying to build a boat in the backyard with his dad's left over construction materials with a plan to sail it across the seven seas. He was inventive, curious, creative and kind. Kol had a sensitivity to others that made him especially loving.
Kol attended Auke Bay Elementary School, growing into a responsible and polite young man who loved football, wrestling, and baseball. He cared about his teammates and gave sports his all. He was a Scout, proud to have earned his Arrow of Light and excited to go camping with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed skiing at Eaglecrest, preferring the paths through the trees and ones with jumps. He loved fishing, Legos, and bouncing on the trampoline with his brother and buddies. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.
Kolbjorn passed away April 27th, 2017 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Kol will be missed beyond imagination and loved forever.
He was preceded in death by his brother Orion, his maternal grandparents Michael and "Mo-Mo" Merikay Young, as well as many other family members.
He is survived by his parents Travis and Karragh, brother Kallum, grandparents Mary and Duane Arndt, uncles Rykken Young and Brandon Arndt, aunts Anna Arndt and Megan (Ryan) Anderson, cousin Rook Anderson, and countless other family members and friends.
We love you Kolbjorn!
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Kolbjorn Arndt will be held at Thunder Mountain High School on Saturday, June 10th. There will be a kid-oriented service at 1 PM followed by a potluck lunch in the commons. As Kol loved to play with his friends and was always doing something active, we have reserved the gym until 5 PM so that the kids can play and hang out together. Dress is casual and we encourage people to wear clothing from activities they might have participated in with Kol like school shirts, field day tie-dyes, jerseys, or uniforms. In lieu of flowers, we'd like to set up a fund in Kol's name that would offer scholarships to help local kids participate in sports, clubs, scouts, and camps.
We are deeply saddened by your terrible loss. Our hearts ache for you and will keep you close and in our daily thoughts and prayers. Kolbjorn was here for a reason and your connection can never be broken. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory nothing can erase.
With love and our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.
