Valerie was born to Henry and Lee Taylor Johnson in Ketchikan, Alaska. Her family relocated to Marysville then Federal Way, WA.
Valerie worked for Boeing for a short period of time right out of high school before she went off to Bible College in Caprenwray, England. She has always loved the Lord. When her youngest son was 23 she sent him to the same school.
She has been involved in Nursing home ministries for over 35 years in Federal Way and Auburn, WA. She would always work things around those dates as to always be there if possible. She has brought countless people to the Lord which was her greatest joy. She loved working the God mobile at the Puyallup fair each year.
Valerie is a published poet. In 1993 she self published her collection of Inspirational and Humorous Poems, Prose and Prayers. She has two stories in the Chicken Soup for the soul series, Cookie Thief in "A 3rd Serving" and The Handwriting on the Wall in "A 6th Bowl".
Valerie was a shutter bug. She loved taking pictures with her friends. If you know Valerie, she has a picture of the two of you together. Valerie loved to travel and has traveled the world. She has taken some beautiful photos during those travels.
This woman has such a spirit of grace, never a negative bone in her body and was always so positive in her faith of the Lord to the moment she left to be with him.
Valerie leaves her husband Donald, Sons Rick and Nathan Cox, daughter in law Agnieszka, grandson Caleb, and Grandson Alexander and his mother Aleigha. Matron of Honor, personal assistant and long time friend Barbara Austin. Her siblings are Eric Johnson, Kay Doyle and departed sister Roberta Scantling. Her mother Lillian (Lee) Taylor Johnson preceded her in death.

Rick and Nathan, my daughter, Maureen, once 'baby sat' for you. I was with your Mother, Valerie, at Grace Church women's Bible Study under Lempi Sample. Your Mom was a very up beat gal who brought God's love and happiness to many. Now, she is safely HOME! Thank you
Valerie was a truly amazing woman full of love and grace. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is Home now in the Kingdom of Heaven, free from pain and suffering. Her strength and love for God and His children will echo on and on through the lives she touched while she was here. My thoughts and prayers to her husband Don that cherished her and loved her beyond measure. May the family have peace during this difficult time.
Valerie was my best friend. We have been through many things in the 23 years I have known her. She was my Matron of Honor as I was hers. We were very close. I loved traveling with her. Whenever she would see a beautiful flower we would stop and get a photo of her with the flower. She was a generous, kind woman to all those she knew. She lived a full life sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was even witnessing with her last breath. I know that she is in Heaven with Jesus and that part makes me happy. She had a wonderful husband Don that took such good care of her while she was here on earth. She couldn't have asked for better. Thank you Don for all you did for my dear friend and your loving wife. You will be in my prayers as you go through this time of loss. Barbara Austin
