James Bertil Warberg Sr.
December 17, 1933 - January 20, 2018
Born in Ballard WA to Eric Rudolph Warberg and Sally Ann Elizabeth (Benson) Warberg, James grew up on Bainbridge Island (Crystal Springs), and graduated from Bainbridge High School (52). After serving in the army, Jim worked a long career at Puget Sound Power and Light, and also seasonally as a tax practitioner with G.J. Isaacson and Associates in Edmonds for over fifty years.
Jim loved the water, cherished his time as a boater and fisherman, relished raucous times with his fishing buddies, enjoyed reading military history, and in later years loved traveling. He was a member of Eastside Steelhead Club, Greater Renton Kiwanis, North Star Council, and Lake Washington United Methodist Church. Above all, his family always came first. His warm hugs and smile will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (45 years), sister Sally Dunn, daughter Rosalie Schiltz (Marty), son James Warberg Jr. (Karroll), and daughter Wendy Gentry (Dan).
So very proud he was of his grandchildren Carla Schiltz, Kristen Gurtler (Bryant), Lauren Dickerson (Larry), Erik Warberg, Darrell Warberg (Becca), Geoffrey Warberg, Branden Gentry, Annie Gentry, and great-grandchildren Brady, Ella, Lainee Grace, and many dear nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 pm at Lake Washington United Methodist Church 7525 132nd Ave NE Kirkland WA.
What a nice tribute, Peter. He will be missed... Glad you were able to visit in January.
Barb
Jim started looking out for me and my 4 year old son in Maple Valley, Washington in the early 1980's. I was a single dad raising Tanner. Jim did our taxes and offered encouragement. When I showed up with my new wife, Nancy, Jim took an interest and did Nancy's fathers taxes also.
When we moved to Rosburg, Washington in 1999 to build a new house, Jim drove down three hours to do our taxes every year until 2013. He would stay overnight and drive back the next day. Sometimes he would bring Barb along.
Nancy worked at Astoria Pacific Seafood and would give Jim a 22 pound box or two of frozen sardines for he and his friends to use as bait.
Jim was a good friend and a real contributor. We will all miss him. He always cheered us up when we saw him.
