How Did We Do?

Deborah Marie Mark transitioned to eternity on January 23, 2018, at her home in Bremerton, Washington. Deborah was born in Seattle on August 24, 1963, to Patricia Berry and George Williams and was adopted soon after by Opal Harris and Robert Mark.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1980, Deborah attained her LPN license and practiced nursing for over 30 years. Caring for others was her passion. She was extremely dedicated to her career, earning her LPN Degree from Grays Harbor College in August 1985 in order to provide her patients with the highest quality of care. All who knew Deborah found her to be a loving, compassionate, generous woman who would do anything for those she loved.

Deborah is survived by her birth mother, Patricia Berry; sons Phillip Hicks, Jr. (wife LaQuisha Benjamin) and Jermaine Hicks Allen, and three younger sons who were placed for adoption; cousins Carol Brown and Lisa Tackett Blair (ex-husband Scott Ingram, Sr.); granddaughter Ja'Elle Skye Hicks; and many nieces, nephews, second cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Opal Hicks and Robert Mark; her birth father, George Williams; and a brother, Louis Mark.

A brief memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 3, 2018. Those who wish to join in celebrating Deborah's life are asked to meet at the Quality Inn, 733 Ocean Shores Blvd., Ocean Shores, WA 98569. The family offers special thanks to Nikki Scroggins and the staff at Cascade Memorial Cremation and Burial for their patience and care in helping to make this a smooth transition during this difficult time.

When I read this I immediately thought of you! All you went through in this life the greatest solace we have is that you are NOW free.

Don't grieve for me for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for m
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned my back and left it all

I couldn't stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I've found that peace at the close of the day

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life has been full, I savored so much
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free

I love you Ms. Deborah
