Danilo D'Amico Almeida, age 43, died on March 9, after a long and brave struggle with brain cancer. He grew up in Bethesda, MD, and graduated from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in 1998 with a BS and a MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He started his professional life at MIT, moving to Woodinville, WA, in 2002, where he worked for Microsoft, Likewise, Isilon, and EMC.
Danilo always exceled in his studies and was a caring, goal-oriented, independent, and smart man. Gifted and compassionate, he helped many people in a variety of ways. In everything he did, he tried to make it as perfect as he could, and mastered every endeavor with dedication and passion. Danilo's mystical and spiritual nature started at an early age and his faith guided and enlightened him all along his path.
Danilo is survived by his parents Plinio and Regina, his sister Sabrina and brother-in-law Paul, and his loving niece Zoe. He is also survived by his godchildren, Maja and Viktor of Woodinville, whom he dearly loved.
There will be a memorial mass at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Church, Woodinville, WA, on April 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon reception.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html).
Plinio, Regina, Sabrina and Paul- We came to know Danilo and his family through our son Derek Truesdale at MIT and through the French House community at MIT. We are so sorry for your loss and that of the whole French House community. We have made a donation to St. Judes in Danilo's name and we will always remember him fondly.
