Marianne O'Reilly, (nee, Pluschke), 68, of Redmond, Washington, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018, after a 5 week battle with congestive heart
failure. Marianne was born in Dingolfing, Bavaria, Germany, on July 26, 1949, to
parents, Johann "Hans" and Anna Pluschke. In December 1955, at the age of 6, she
with her parents and brothers, Paul and John, immigrated to Redmond, WA. Marianne
would go on to graduate from Redmond High School in 1968. She began working as a
cashier for Valuemart, which would later become Fred Meyer. In the early 1970s,
Marianne worked for a short period at Boeing, only to be laid off when the "Lights in
Seattle" were nearly turned off. In 1978, she married, and in 1979, her only child,
Colleen (O'Reilly) Rutherford, was born in Redmond, WA.
Marianne lived in Renton, Washington from 1987 to 2005. In the summer of 2005, she
returned to Redmond, WA., and the beloved home she grew up in. Marianne worked as
the ustomer service manager for Factoria Mall from 1993 to 2005. In 2005, after the
mall was sold, she began working for Brown Bear, Factoria, as the morning cashier.
Marianne relished her jobs in customer service. She was a happy, bright face to loyal
customers, who often said, "We come here to see you!" In 2008, Marianne retired from
customer service and began the job she relished most--OMA!! She doted on her
grandchildren, Alex and Anna, and enjoyed telling her daughter, "The word, "no,"
doesn't exist at Omi's house!" Marianne enjoyed baking with granddaughter Anna and
was always available to make cupcakes on the fly and cookies for the road! Her family
will miss her bright smile, warm hugs, and sweet treats.
Marianne's family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Overlake Hospital,
especially the nursing staff of 2 East and Dr. Shawn Lee, for their exemplary help and
care. These staff members went above and beyond and their dedication will never be
forgotten.
A private memorial dinner will be held for immediate family and friends.
Marianne was a high school friend, shared many happy times with her. Sorry to hear of her passing way to young. My sincerest condolences to her family.
