James "Jim" Carson Sterling, 51, a resident of Lynnwood, Washington, died May 8, 2018, in Gold Bar, Washington.
He was born March 27, 1967, to Kathleen and Milton Sterling in Bellevue, Washington. Jim attended Decatur High School, Class of 1985.
He married Cammy Card on July 29, 1989, in Federal Way, Washington. The marriage ended in 1992.
Jim worked for General Electric after high school and at Boeing for 10 years. At the time of his death he worked in light construction at HHB Homes Inc. after a back injury.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors his whole life. He was a fisherman and a bow hunter.
He is survived by his only son Beau Sterling of Federal Way, a brother Tim (Tanya) of Arizona, and a brother Robert (Christy) of Olympia, Washington. He also is survived by four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
If I was ever in the mood to be completely embarrassed at a game of darts, have a professional size football thrown at me with the velocity of Dan Marino, or talk about the why AMX made the best vehicles I knew a quick stop to Jim’s would set me straight. I haven’t spent much time with Jim since moving away from Washington but what I wouldn’t give to take a weekend to slay a few deer with him now. Sheila Ann and I share our deepest sympathy to those who knew and loved Jim. Psalm 55:6 says; "Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then I would fly away, and be at rest."
Rest in peace, Jim. Safe in the Arms of Jesus.
I never imagined having to do life without my best friend.
I am unable to speak about him just yet.
I can say that James was first and foremost a proud father. He lit up when he talked about his son Beau. Beau was his pride and joy and spending time with him was when he was happiest.
When our family first moved to Washington the Sterling clan was one of the first families to welcome us.

Beau, I’m praying for you during this difficult time. May God grant you strength to manage. It’s never easy to get over the loss of a loved one, especially a parent. I’ll continue to pray for you and the rest of his family.
