Edward A. Watton, March 16, 1923 - June 22, 2018

Ed Watton was born in Seattle and raised in the Madison Valley. Ed started working as a photographer for the Seattle Post Intelligencer in the late 1940s. He also served in the U.S. Army's Signal Corps, Counter Intelligence Corps as a photographer and stationed at various times at Fort Lawton, Fort Lewis, and Fort Ord. Later, he successfully owned and operated Forde Motion Picture Lab where he processed news film for T.V. affiliate stations in Seattle and Portland, Oregon as well as processed football film for both high school and university teams across the state of Washington and Pacific Northwest. Active in his community, Ed was Mayor of Medina for eight years during the 1970s and helped establish Medina Park in the mid-1970s. Between 1976 and 1980, he represented the smaller cities on the Council of the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle and was an active member of several Metropolitan Council committees. After retirement, Ed continued to volunteer, including many years playing Santa in support of the charity mission of the Forgotten Children's Fund. He was active in supporting Emerald Heights in Redmond, where he and his wife Barbara lived happily for over 25 years. Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara, four children - Alan Watton, Mary Walsh (Bob), David Watton (Terry), and Ann Goos (David Thorud), five granddaughters, and three great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the entire team at Emerald Heights Corwin Center and the Evergreen Hospice Care Center for their care and support of Ed, particularly over the last several years. Known for his sense of humor and gentlemanly ways, Ed will be greatly missed.
