Donna Pauline Hess, mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend has passed away on August 3rd after a valiant 9 year war against colorectal cancer. It was a battle she fought with tenacity, grace, and valor.
Donna was born in 1956 at Trinity hospital in Arcata, Ca to Paul and Mary Phillips. She grew up in McKinleyville, Ca and also attended high school there. After high school Donna married Stephen Miller and had two daughters. She worked cleaning houses and running a daycare from her home. In 1990 she moved to Nezperce Idaho and helped her mother run a hotel/cafe, where she also met and married Dale Hess. She worked for many years as a dispatcher for the sheriffs office.
Donna is survived by her husband Dale Hess, daughters Julie Lawson and Tanna Holmes, grandchildren Curtis Lawson, Carrie Lawson, Christina Lawson, Sadie Lawson, Hannah Holmes and Jett Dannels, her sister Linda Nessier and brothers Larry Phillips and Gary Phillips.
She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Mary Phillips, and brother Gary Wilkins.
