How Did We Do?

DAVIS, Steven Newton 67 of Old Lyme, CT and formerly of Madison, CT, passed away suddenly on August 3, 2018 in Seattle, WA surrounded by his family. He was en-route to Alaska for a family vacation. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Nancy Liebenson-Davis of Old Lyme CT, daughter Marie Davis Huante, son-in-law Edward Huante, and two grandchildren, Phoenix and Raiden all of Ventura, CA., his brother Donald B. Davis, Jr. and his sister Elizabeth J. Budge. He also had many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. His parents, Donald B. Davis and Joyce C. Davis, and his brothers Richard C. Davis and Kenneth D. Davis predeceased him.

Steve spent most of his life on the Connecticut shoreline, graduating from Daniel Hand High School and the UConn School of Agriculture. With a commitment to personalized service, he owned and operated Integrated Turf Management for the past ten years where he was dedicated to growing and maintaining the lush green lawns of many estates along the sandy shoreline where most grass is reluctant to grow. Previously, Steve owned Live Oaks Landscaping.

Steve touched the hearts of so many people. He made connections with everyone he encountered by learning their stories and sharing his, offering a helping hand, and sharing a corny joke or two. Even those who didn't know him very well remembered him for his warm smile, loving personality, infectious laugh, engaging storytelling, and piercing blue eyes. His relationships were strong and deep rooted. Steve would always say he was "just a gardener", but he cultivated a legacy that will long be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. Steve was extremely loyal to his family, friends, and customers. He cherished life and lived it with gusto - traveling the world with his wife Nancy. He found solace on the water and loved boating, challenging himself and taking risks, seeking adventures, playing the occasional game of darts, and spending time with those he loved; especially his daughter Marie and two grandchildren with whom he loved to play and cuddle. He had a great attitude and love of life.

Steve came into this life a fighter, born early, back when the outlook for premature children was not as positive as it is now, and he left us far too soon. Steve received a lung transplant 6 ½ years ago and cherished the extra time he was given with immense gratitude to the family who generously donated a lung during their own tragedy and loss.

Those who wish may donate in Steven's name to The Lung Transplant Project. Please join his grateful family to celebrate Steve on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Surf Club in Madison, CT.

Listen closely to the wind and we will hear his laughter and feel his love.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to www.lungtransplantproject.org.
