On January 14, 2019, Charles Alan Philpot of Auburn, Washington passed away at the age of 51 with his wife of 24 years, Barbara, by his side.
Born on August 4, 1967 in Detroit to William and Dolores Philpot, Charlie grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan participating in sports and competitive swimming while making many lifelong friends. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1995, after a semester in France at the University of Pau.
After Charlie became a loving husband and father, the Philpot family moved to Auburn, Washington 20 years ago. Charlie enjoyed everything western Washington had to offer, except the really dreary rainy days. An avid skier who had season passes to Crystal Mountain for several years, he enjoyed camping, water sports, and disc golf throughout the Pacific Northwest. Charlie was a music lover with an extensive collection of albums and CD's who attended concerts as often as he could.
Charlie is survived by his wife Barbara, his two children, Ted and Sammi, his parents Bill and Dolores Philpot of Maryville, TN, sister Linda (David) Olsen of Basom, NY, brother Phillip (April) Philpot of Cartersville, GA, nieces Autumn (John) Hiner and Alison (Zach) Starke and nephew Max Olsen. He was preceded in death by his older brother Robert Philpot and his dear "Granny" Florida (Stephens) Philpot.
At Charlie's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held in the summer when his ashes can be placed in the Cascade Mountains. Charles wanted to be an organ donor and was able to donate his corneas to help restore sight to the blind.
