How Did We Do?

Ron peacefully transitioned to a new life June 25, 2019, in Bellevue, after a 4 year journey with cancer. Ron was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 21, 1937 and lived in Omaha, Lincoln, Neb, Wichita Ks and St. Paul Minn. before coming to Seattle with his family in 1950.
While attending Roosevelt High School he met his future wife Carolyn. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary on June 15th of this year. They had 2 children, Jeffrey and Jodi. Ron was passionate about family, especially spending time with his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Olivia.
Boating was a significant activity for the whole family in the 70's and 80's. Weekends and summertime were spent on the Caron J with Desolation Sound, Princess Louisa and the San Juan Islands a favorite. In Ron served as Commodore of the Yarrow Bay Yacht Club
In 1995 Ron and Carolyn purchased their dream property in Ellensburg. Once they retired there life consisted of horses, dogs, cats, rocks and a lot of time for Ron on his John Deere. The time Ron spent there was such a joy to him. In order to be closer to family they moved back to the Redmond area and settled in Trilogy. Ron went back to work for Enterprise Rental Car shuttling cars and developed some wonderful lasting friendships. He worked there until diagnosed with cancer in 2015.
Ron was very involved in the life of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He served on the Building Committee for their new sanctuary, served on the Facilities Committee, and was a member of the Wednesday Work Group, which involved work and donuts.
In his early years he worked for Addressograph-Multigraph and after early retirement he went to work with his daughter at their frame shop in Issaquah. He loved working there and became very involved in the community serving as President of the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce.
Ron and Carolyn eventually moved to Fairwinds Redmond so that Ron could receive assisted living. Ron loved playing bean bag baseball and cherished the friendships he made while there.
Ron is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Jeff Norton and wife Liz and his grandchildren Jeffrey and Olivia, his daughter Jodi Daub and her husband Ken, brother Ted and wife Jeannie, brother Larry and wife Sue; sister-in-law Gloria Roll and husband Bill and brother-in-law Carl Heine and wife Pat; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will have two opportunities to celebrate Ron's life. There will be a Memorial Gathering on July 20th (1pm) at Fairwinds Redmond and a Celebration of His Life at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 3030 Bellevue Way NE Bellevue on Friday, August 30th at 1pm.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church to benefit the Facilities Fund.

January will never be the same wthout you. No more teases of pure joy to be sure everyone knew you were one day younger...and that laugh!
We give thanks to God for the 65 plus years spent together, and now draw on great memories to keep you in our hearts.
