How Did We Do?

Angela died peacefully in Bellevue, Washington on July 31st after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She is survived by her loving husband Glenn Jr., their children, Glenn Clark Driver lll (Jane), Jann Driver Martelli (Don), and Jennifer Driver Mannix. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Alex Martelli (Lauren), Amanda Martelli, Gregory Mannix (Concha), Jennifer Lynn Mannix (Kris) and Great Grandchildren, Marina Mannix, Gregory Mannix Jr., Nicole Mannix, Martina Mannix and Leo Vincent Martelli.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Janeth Ewald and her son-in-law Kenneth Mannix.

Angela was born March 8, 1932 in Long Beach CA to Vincent and Irene Hackett. Vince's business required frequent moves--after early schooling in Long Beach, Angela attended and graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco, which she always referred to as a happy time in her life.

She enrolled in University of California Berkeley in 1950 where she pledged Delta Delta Delta. This began a lifetime of devotion to the Fraternity, culminating in her election as National Fraternity President at Tri Deltas Centennial Convention in 1988, serving as President for 4 years. She was a lifetime member of Overlake Alumnae Chapter.

Angela met Midshipman Glenn Driver on a blind date in Annapolis on December 15, 1951. This introduction at the Naval Academy, led to their marriage at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco in 1953.

Throughout her married life, she and Glenn were members of Church of the Resurrection Episcopal Church in Bellevue where they raised their family. Angela served on Altar Guild and became the first woman to serve as Chalice Bearer during Mass.

Angela was active in Democratic politics and served as a Girl Scout Leader. She had a love for reading, academics, and world affairs. She had a razor sharp memory and was a whiz at Jeopardy. She was an amazing cook and homemaker-totally devoted to her family, friends and her Faith.

She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be at Church of the Resurrection, 15220 Main Street, Bellevue, Washington 98007 on Tuesday, August 6 at 11:00 am. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. The family asks that remembrances be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

CandleAngela was an early inspiration in my years as a Tri-Delta volunteer. Her quick wit, innate confidence, ongoing smile, and crisp memory were impressive. My condolences to Jann, her daughter and my friend, as well as the rest of Angela’s family. She positively touched my life will not be forgotten.

My sisters and I send our love and condolences to Jann and the family. As Tri-Delts, we remember her as a very lovely woman who raised kind and thoughtful kids. With our deep condolences, Nancy Bourque
