How Did We Do?

Burl C. Boxley, 59, of Brier, Washington, passed away, October 24th, 2019 peacefully at home after a short battle with metastatic lung cancer surrounded by his family.

He was born in New York on July 15th, 1960 but spent his childhood with his beloved grandparents, Burl and Mae Fitzgerald in South Boston, Virginia on the family's tobacco farm. Burl graduated from T. C. Williams's High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Burl was married to Sheila Boxley on August 13th, 1982 in Alexandria, Virginia.

Burl was the proud owner of King Tile and Masonry, a tile company which he liked to say that he treated his customers like royalty. He was a husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle and coach. Burl will be forever remembered for his love of music and willingness to take the mic and lead any song. Always ready to take the grill, play cards, dominoes or a game of cribbage and trash talk to end. He was a Lakers fan and a fan of all sports. He was the family baby whisperer and we are saddened that the current and future babies will not have him to rock them to sleep.

Burl was survived by his wife; Sheila Boxley, his mother; Essie Norris, his children; Christopher Meegan Sr., Seamus Boxley (Nadia), Daniel Boxley (Alisha), Michael Boxley Sr. (Nicole), Mary Boxley, and Antonio Cousar and his grandchildren; Kielan Meegan, Jaya Meegan, Christopher Meegan Jr., Elyjah Meegan, Aiden Boxley, Alexander Boxley, Michael Boxley Jr., Delilah Boxley, Alba Boxley, Indira Carey, Naiya Carey, Lola Boxley, Dontae Cousar and Kevon Cousar. He was also survived by his sisters; Delores Countee, Iris Boxley-Barr, and Delreo Norris-Towler and their respective families and a large in-law family of brothers/sisters/nephews and nieces.

There will be a private Memorial Service held at 6:30 to 9:30 PM on November 2nd, 2019 at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo, Washington.
