How Did We Do?

Marjorie Carol Fraser (née Frith) was born July 7, 1938 to Nellie (Cole) and Louis Frith, in Pasadena, California. Marjorie, Marj as her friends knew her, passed into the welcoming arms of her Lord on September 25, 2020.
Marjorie's eyes saw a great many things in her 82 years. She spent most of her growing up years living on the beaches of California- Oxnard, Long Beach, Goleta. She shared stories of jumping off sand dunes with the big kids waiting for the school bus and her loved hen and rooster, Momsey and Popsey. A graduate of Inglewood High School in Los Angeles, CA in 1956, Marj attended a technical school with an eye to become an X-ray technician. She changed tack and explored other options before meeting Charles Fraser at a church Young Adult group. Marjorie and Charles married on June 30, 1957. Marj and Chuck had two daughters and two sons in short order, making a home in Santa Barbara, CA for many years after starting the family in and around Los Angeles. Another daughter surprised the family many years later and Marj said raising her kept them young.

Marjorie was an active member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and was a long time Girl Scout leader. Marj always kept a love and interest in all things medical, including being a Red Cross first aid trainer. She had a variety of jobs she loved- clerk at a five-and-dime, answering service operator, church secretary, and corporate administrative assistant for a number of large companies. Of course, mother and wife were featured careers as well.

Marj and Chuck moved from Southern California to Kent, WA in 1987 and lived there the bulk of her remaining days. There were some sojourns in Colorado and other Washington cities along the way.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother Jerry (JoAnne), and her husband, Charles Fraser. Marj is survived by a sister, Kathy (Gene) of California, daughters Erin (Harold) of Texas, Heather (Craig) of California; sons Erik and Jon, both of California; and daughter Amber (Jeremy) of Washington. Marjorie enjoyed nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, several nephews and a niece. She was a beloved friend to many, a woman full of quick wit and dry humor in a shy outer shell.

The family is deeply grateful to CHI Franciscan Hospice for their professionalism and care in Marj's last days. We also thank the congregation- friends- of First Christian Church of Kent, WA for their steady care and encouragement. We miss our mother and friend, but rejoice in her relief.

Thank you to all who have offered their sympathy and condolences at the loss of our mother, Marj. She loved monarch butterflies and had amazing Halloween costumes... she loved being a helper and had a dark sense of humor. So much to remember about her. We thank you for being part of her story. I love you mom.
