Jean Linford Moffat, June 17, 1942 - July 3, 2021.

She was born in Moscow, Idaho, and raised first in Palouse, Washington, by her parents, Lillian Ford Moffat and Alexander R. Moffat. The family moved to Puyallup, Washington, in 1952. Jean attended Meeker Elementary and Puyallup Junior-Senior High School, graduating in 1960. She attended Olympic Junior College, Knapp Business School, and later received certificates in Early Childhood Education from Fort Steilacoom Community College. She traveled to Europe with a student tour group.

She was the primary care giver for her parents.

Jean learned to read at age 4 and was a lifelong patron of public libraries. She received a card at the Puyallup Public Library in December 1952 and has been a member of Friends of the Library for decades. She assisted at their annual book sales and volunteered to stock shelves when the new Library opened with a permanent Friends store. Over the years she also participated in craft classes at the Puyallup Senior Center and attended a variety of adult education courses from Pierce College.

For many years annual visits to midwest relatives in North Dakota and Iowa encouraged her to document family genealogy and explore their English and Scottish history. Her reading habits ranged from current best sellers to all genres of fiction. One of her missions was to check out favorite old books from the library often enough to assure they would not be "retired" from the active catalog. Her weekly visit to the library was an hours-long tour of the stacks and reference sections, with lots of notetaking.

She was preceded in death by parents and is survived by her brother, Robert A. Moffat, of the family home.
