Rita Guzman Pablo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24th in Tacoma at age 84. Survived by her husband, Teddy of 55 years, sisters Mila Santos and Elsa Cortez; brother Noli Guzman; children James, Janet, and Tedd Pablo; grandchildren Jordan, Jared and Brandon Pablo; and great granddaughter Alysia Pablo.

Growing up in Manila, she experienced the hardships of WWII, yet, overcame living a highly accomplished life. She loved fresh mangos, swimming in the Pacific ocean and surrounding lakes, and having great adventures with her siblings, especially her sister close in age, Mila. Married in 1967 and immigrating to the States with other family members in 1968, she always reminds us (her kids) how lucky we are to live in America; that life is very hard back home and that if it weren't for her sister Mila, we would still reside in the PI.

Highly accomplished graduating 2nd in her class with a double Bachelor's degree in Teaching and Industrial Arts from PCAAT (PHILIPPINE COLLEGE OF ADVANCED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY, she was recognized in Manila as the first female Industrial Arts Teacher in an otherwise male dominated profession. After moving to the states, she raised three kids while enjoying a career as an Electronics Assembler at the Boeing Company where she received several awards for Excellence and Quality. Later in 1993 she retired early from Boeing thanks to their Golden Handshake program.

She was a great collector of things including non-fiction books of every genre, movies, and music. She enjoyed nature walks, and attending family gatherings. But, her greatest pastime was at the local bingo hall. She enjoyed spreading laughter and giving smiles to all.

Those who knew Rita knows she disliked being fussed over and would rather give than receive. To honor her wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate her memory in your own ways. She will be with us all in spirit.
