How Did We Do?

Patrick Alan Estes, aka "Pat", "Dad", "Pops" and "Opa" joined his heavenly father on Monday, November 28th.

He was born in Jackson, MI on March 27, 1954, to Dolores and Herbert Estes. The middle of three siblings with older brother Mike and younger sister Lorie. His Mom and siblings moved to California after his parents divorced and Pat graduated from San Clemente High School. He was very thankful to his friend who set him up on a blind date when he met his first love Syndi.

1973 was a big year for him as he graduated high school in June, married Syndi in July and went to basic training in August! In 1975 he welcomed his first daughter Kimberly and then in 1978, his second daughter Jamie completed the family. While in the military Pat worked on many vehicles including the fire trucks at the airport. He also traveled to Korea, Texas, Germany, California, and Washington during his 14 years in active duty.

Keeping a promise he made to his girls that the family would stop moving when Kim started high school, he settled the family in Washington. After leaving the Air Force, he joined Boeing as a Quality Assurance specialist becoming one of the few people able to perform penetration skin testing on their airplanes. After his beloved wife of 29 years, Syndi, passed away in 2002 he married Jan in 2005, and they spent the next 17 years camping and traveling together with friends and family.

In 2000, he became "Opa", a title he was very proud of. He loved each of his 5 grandchildren, Bobby, Tyler, Byron, Cameron, and Sydni, so very much and was extremely proud of them.
If you knew Pat for longer than 2 seconds, you knew that he loved the Lord, his family, and, of course, cars. He was very caring and loving to everyone and even when he was sick or in pain, he handled things with grace and didn't complain. We will all miss him so much but the lessons he taught, the love he shared, the joy he brought, and the many cars he worked on, will all live on in every person whose life he touched in some way.

His legacy and love will live on through his wife Jan, daughters Kim (Worthy) and Jamie (McCrea), sons in law Robert Worthy and Aaron McCrea and his grandchildren Bobby and Tyler Worthy and Byron, Cameron, and Sydni McCrea.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to God's Garage https://godsgarage.org/ or St. Jude's Children's hospital.

There will be a celebration of life on Friday, January 27th at 11am at Lemay Collections at Marymount - 325 152nd Street E, Tacoma, WA 98445.
