Helen Ruth Engebretson Obituary | Obituary - Seattle WA Cremations and Funerals

On April 2, 2023, Helen Engebretson, nee Engen, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Helen was born in St. Paul Minnesota, to Ole and Elvira Engen. She met her husband Claremont (Clare) Engebretson during their college years, when seated alphabetically in a university class. The two were married in 1949 and later settled in Bellevue, Washington, where they raised their family.

Helen worked as a bookkeeper over the years and also volunteered at Overlake Hospital. She spoke fondly of her bridge group and "happy hour" friends. A few years after Clare's passing in 2012, Helen moved to the Bellettini, a senior living community. She found renewed excitement and many new friends whom she came to cherish. Helen is remembered by others as a true and steadfast friend, their rock. The biggest joy of her life though, was her granddaughters. She was happy and thankful that she was able to see them multiple times in the months before her passing.

Helen will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery, with her beloved husband. Helen is survived by her three children, Eric, Leslie and Mark, and two granddaughters, Annika and Elsa.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Peter's Methodist Church 17222 NE 8th St. Bellevue, WA Friday May 5th at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to United Methodist Women.
