John Raymond Hering, 79, passed away February 24, 2023. He was born on September 13, 1943 in Tacoma, WA to John Hering and Minnie Dehnert-Hering. He graduated from Federal Way High School in 1962 and was a loyal employee of United Airlines for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife Linda, children Greg, Brian, Raelynn and Jolene, brother Larry and grandchildren Tyler, Krista, Tanner, Madison, Jourdin, Max, Bailey, Samantha and Niela.

John was a devoted sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching games of all his children and grandchildren. No matter the weather or the travel distance, John was there. When his kids were younger he coached their soccer, baseball and football teams. He spent many years as an umpire for baseball and a referee for basketball officiating hundreds of games.

Never without his golf clubs, he was always up for a round.

He never turned down a good meal with family and friends. Spaghetti in all forms was a staple in his diet and lemon flavored desserts were a favorite.

He was quick to make friends no matter where he went and loved talking about sports with anyone.

He will be missed by many for his friendly, jovial personality.

A celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2023 at 3pm.
