How Did We Do?

Eva Hager was born October 16th, 1941 in Rugby, North Dakota to Wendelin W. Richter and Eva (Fettig) Richter. She passed away peacefully at home in Federal Way, Washington on October 21st, 2023.

Eva married the love of her life, Duaine Hager, on April 3rd, 1961. They lived in Harvey, North Dakota, and worked on the family farm until they moved to the Puget Sound area and soon after settled into their Federal Way home in 1968. Eva was a natural caregiver and used her gift of helping others by working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Federal Way Convalescent Center for 15 years. She had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Eva was loving, hard-working, generous and had many gifts. She had a green thumb and took pride in the beautiful flowers she lovingly cared for throughout her yard. She loved baking, all of her children and grandchildren eagerly looked forward to their annual birthday and Christmas presents of delicious home baked cookies and breads. Eva also enjoyed crocheting, playing pinochle with family, daily walks with her friends, traveling and spending time at the beach. She had a strong love of the outdoors and passed that on to her sons and grandchildren with cherished memories of family backpacking trips, fishing and campfires. Eva was very special and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Eva is survived by her children Wade (Teri) Hager of Tacoma, WA, Trent (Michelle) Hager of Kent, WA, Todd (Stephanie) Hager of Snoqualmie, WA, and Troy (Tammy) Hager of Maple Valley, WA; her grandsons, Nathan, Ryan, Michael, Mason, Tyler, Jared and Nolan; her granddaughters, Madeline, Anna, Olivia and Grace; her sisters Margie Gagnier of Lynnwood, WA, Caroline Faul of Spring Grove, IL, and Cecelia Weinmann of Harvey, ND; her brother Ignatius Richter of Shelton, WA and many nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Regina Eback, Catherine Weigel, Theresia Ludwig, and Maria Hagel; brothers Wendelin Richter, Ludwig Richter, Leo Richter, and Adam Richter and daughter Mechele who welcomed her with open arms.

The Rosary will be at 10:15am, Wednesday, November 8, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Federal Way, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Inurnment will be at 2:30pm at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Association.
