Beloved husband and father Joe Bob Horsley passed away peacefully at age 82 on October 17, 2023 in Renton, Washington. A native Texan, Joe spent most of his early years in Tyler, before serving in the Army, and later moving to Austin, where he graduated from the University of Texas. He spent his career as a dedicated public servant with The Texas Department of Health. In retirement, he and his wife happily settled in the Pacific Northwest. Joe believed in simple living. He greatly valued his family and friends, education, and the arts. He particularly enjoyed the marvels and beauty of the natural world surrounding us. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruby Horsley, his adored wife of over fifty years, Janice, and his brother, Ronnie (and his wife, Janet). Joe is survived by his son, Paul (Julie), his daughter Sara (Bruce), his cherished grandsons, Trevor and James, his sisters, Kay (Ronnie) and Judy, many very dear in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. We will all greatly miss his humor, wit, and thoughtful, easy-going nature. He will forever live in our memories and hearts.
Joe Horsley was my big brother. He was one special human being, for certain. He always had time to talk with me and to listen. He was thoughtful, sensitive, kind and very intelligent. He cared deeply for his family and friends. I loved him so very much and will miss him until we are together again. Rest in peace my brother.
