Sharon Marie (Holding) Peters was born on March 30, 1944, to Harry and Elsie (Hodgson) Holding in Port Angeles, Washington. She lived in Sekiu and attended Clallam Bay Schools graduating in 1962. As a teen she worked at the fishing resorts in Sekiu. She earned a B. A. in Education from Western Washington State College in 1966. Sharon then taught 3rd and 4th grades in the Everett School District for 30 years until her 1996 retirement whereupon she occasionally substituted for about 10 years.

Sharon's interests included reading, traveling, cooking, gardening, playing bridge, and tennis. Sharon exuded sweetness and kindness with a calm, soft-spoken but firm demeanor. However, she sometimes displayed a stubborn streak. Sharon always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She enjoyed discussions and listening to different perspectives. She was a dependable person who offered encouragement and help to others as well as being a consistent, steadfast friend who cared deeply about them. Sharon lived every day with integrity.

Sharon died in the early hours on Thursday, February 22, 2024, just short of her 80th birthday with her grandniece Melissa Webb by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Elsie Holding; brothers Edward, Alfred, twin John Charles; and niece Gloria Hoeppner. She is survived by her nephew Gary (Caren) Holding and nieces Karen Holding, Carolyn (Mark) Setala, Sherry (Frank) Rutherford, Lorene (Dale) Ludwig, and Charlene (Mark) Ramthun; and 17 grand nieces and nephews as well as cherished friends who dearly miss her. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.
